Tora Tree

Tora Tree is the world's largest tree that has existed for thousands of years, and rests just south of the Town of Tora. It is a very tall and sturdy tree, and the player is able to explore its hollow interior. It is first seen in Power Master 1: A Strange Journey.

Enemies Birds, Ravens, Dotwood

Entering from Tora, the player will notice a large tree. This tree graphic was provided by RPG Maker user Celianna for RPG Maker MV, though scaled down to fit the map of RPG Maker VX Ace. As such, the graphic has a noticeably higher resolution than most of the other graphics in Power Master 1: A Strange Journey.

The first floor of Tora Tree has two paths the player can take. The path on the left will lead the player to a Key which will unlock the door on the right path. Once the player has the Key, they should return to this floor and go up the right staircase.

On the second floor, the left path leads up to the next floor. If the player is on the right path, they need to use a Bomb to blow up the boulder in order to continue.

The third floor has the player walking inside the branches of the tree. On the left side, the player will find a Key. On the right side, the player can collect a Hard Hat, as well as open the locked door with the aforementioned Key.

The fourth floor of Tora Tree is only accessible from the right path, taken on the first floor. On this floor is a Transfer Panel the player can use to return to the start of the dungeon. On the left side of the floor is a switch that, when activated, will cause a staircase to the next floor to appear.

On the top of Tora Tree, the player will find the boss Dotwood, who will battle the player as soon as they enter the floor. The player can also battle the Birds in the area by talking to them. If the player wins, leaves the area, and returns, the events will reset aside from Dotwood's.

Tora Tree returns in Power Master: A Strange Journey MV, now a part of the same map as the Town of Tora. Its external appearance has been cut short, as to not extend the map and allow the player to still see where they are going[1].

Internally, the tree is much less complicated than its original appearance. It now consists only of its tall, hollow trunk, which loops to give the player the illusion of an endless tree. To each the top, the player has to loop around five times. Birds and Ravens have been replaced with Firebirds and Thunderbirds, while Dotwood has been replaced with Powerbird. Once the player reaches the top of Tora Tree, which extends past the planet's atmosphere, Powerbird will appear and the boss battle will begin.

Plaque information

"Tora Tree is the world's largest tree, growing up past the clouds - and it's still growing! The interior of the tree may be hollow, but it is incredibly sturdy with a lifespan of over a thousand years. Tora Tree is so large that it alone can produce five thousand times the amount of oxygen than that of a standard tree."

Trivia

  • In the 0.1.0 and 0.2.0 demos of Power Master: A Strange Journey MV, the word "hollow" on the plaque reads "hallow". This was corrected in the 0.3.0 demo.
