An Aqua Patch, originally Aqualung, is a key item in the Power Master series, first appearing in Power Master 1: A Strange Journey. It allows the wearer to breathe underwater.

In Power Master 1: A Strange Journey, an Aqualung allows the player to enter bodies of water. It only needs to be in the player's inventory in order for it to take effect. It, along with the Heat Pack and Ice Block, is one of the three key items in the game that can be bought and sold at Shops and is normally sold in Shops whose town is next to a water area, like Oora or Rora. It also does not have an item icon, a trait it shares with the other two aforementioned items as well. While the player can buy as many as they want, only one needs to be in the inventory, regardless of how many members are on the team.

Development

Originally, the Aqualung was supposed to be a suit of armor the player had to wear. It was changed so players wouldn't have to constantly switch armor to get to where they wanted to.[1]

The Aqualung returns as an item in Power Master: A Strange Journey MV, now called the Aqua Patch. If the player doesn't have one while swimming underwater, they will drown after enough time passes. This means that the player no longer needs an Aqua Patch in their inventory just to swim, but they do need it in order to breathe underwater. Again, the player can have multiple Aqua Patches in their inventory, but the game only checks for one. Their price has also gone up.

Locations

  • Oora
    • Purchasable from the Shop
    • From Octavis upon his recruitment, if the player does not have one already
