Essences of Defense are demon enemies first seen in Power Master: A Strange Journey MV. They give Defense Up rewards when defeated.

In Power Master: A Strange Journey MV, an Essence of Defense can be found among a Mole troop near the end of Uora Underground before the hole that leads to Burrow. Like with the other Essence variants, Essence of Defense has 50 points in all stats, except for Defense, where it is boosted to 500. It is not strong against anything, but it is weak to Silver weapons. It has skills related to defense, being Defend, Super Guard, and Defense Boost. The Essence of Defense also has a higher evasion rate than most enemies and can also Flee. Defeating it rewards the player with a Defense Up, though it has a 1-in-5 chance of dropping it.

Essences of Defense cannot be fought on Hard Mode.
